1. What is your educational background?
Undergrad degree from MVNU in 1982 with a major in Education and minor in Business.
MBA from Ashland University in 1995 with area of concentration in Executive Management.
Plans to begin a doctoral program in business administration in Fall 2007.
2. What brought you to Mount Vernon Nazarene University?
I always wanted to come back to MVNU because it played a significant role in my development as a young Christian. I wanted to be part of an organization where I could share my faith and make a difference in the lives of those that I come into contact with. Teaching has provided a chance to build relationships with the students and open the doors for opportunities to share my personal and professional experiences.
3. What classes do you teach in the program?
MAN3053 - Personal Development and Research Skills
ABT3073 - Business Communications
MAN4033 - Strategic Planning
4. What have you found to be the most rewarding part of your job?
It can be summed up in one word. Relationship! Sharing in the lives of the students. Building relationship with the students provides so many more opportunities for sharing personal and professional points of view. They have taught me as much as I have them. It is what makes life successful. The opportunity to witness their success in the classroom and watching them grow through their experience here at MVNU is priceless. It excites me to see them at the beginning of the program and to then see them reach their goal of walking across that stage and receiving their degree!
5. What tips would you give to an adult who is looking to further their education?
Give it all you have with Gods direction! It will open doors for you that will forever change your life. Once you have learned it, apply it. Once you apply it, teach it to someone else. Be proactive and believe that it will make a difference in your life and those that come into contact with you.
