Jul 21,2008 From tears to diploma Tami Bunnell, Assistant Director of Marketing for AGS
As I near the completion of my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) I have been reflecting on my experiences at MVNU. I can remember sitting on my couch over two years ago crying and begging God to show me what to do next with my life. I felt that my life was stale and I was tired of feeling like I wanted more. Just then, a TV commercial for the Mount Vernon Nazarene University AGS program appeared. It was the answer to my prayers and I filled out the online application immediately. Now, after 22 months of classes, I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made.
MVNU has changed my life for the better. Eating dinner each week with my cohort has helped me to make some life-long friends that I will always cherish, as well as crucial professional connections. The support I receive from my fellow students is incredible and the camaraderie is inspiring. The teachers have been excellent and the real world experience they bring to the classroom has been essential to my understanding of the coursework.
It hasn’t always been a neatly paved road along the way, but with a learning environment based on Christian principles I have been able to overcome the adversity and achieve my educational goals. It has been comforting and essential for me to pray at the beginning of each class. I find that my performance is enhanced when it is God centered.
MVNU understands the pressures that go along with balancing a full time job, a family, and school work. I never felt as though the work was too difficult or too much. I don’t feel that I really had to sacrifice time with my family for homework too much. I find the AGS program to be so wonderful that I have even signed up for the Masters of Science in Management (MSM) program that begins next year. In fact, several of my fellow students are doing the same program with me. If that’s not proof of the value we place on the AGS program, then I don’t know what is!
